PACKAGING
-
In what kind of packaging do you send the products?
Due to the high oil content of the spices and to ensure proper flavouring, our products are packed in plastic or paper+plastic multilayer pouches or in bags, depending on the size of the pack.
In our zero-waste shop we would also like to sell spices and teas in packaging-free form, can you help us?
We can deliver the spices to the store in sizes as required and can also send extra labels on request so that the label can be shelved for easy traceability.
We can also assist with allergen information labelling.
However, you should check with your food safety inspector about the conditions for such sales.

Delicate-special-rose hot-where do these names come from?
The adjectives - rose, delicate and special - used to refer to the colour of the paprika.
Rose was the lowest quality of the 'red paprika', followed by 'delicate' and then 'special', the highest ASTA content, i.e. the reddest colour.
According to the current rules of the trade, the amended Hungarian Food Codex distinguishes between Class I and Class II sweet paprika and the designation "special sweet paprika" is only allowed for artisanal sweet paprika.
The Hungarian Food Codex distinguishes 3 categories of hot paprikas, mildly hot, hot and very hot, according to their capsaicin content, precisely defined in mg/kg.
It is also important that the place of origin of any paprika should be precisely and specifically indicated (in the case of a mixture, each country of origin in order) to express the protection of Hungarian origin paprika.

Recall of products in case of quality risk
In the event of possible contamination that could pose a risk to food safety, we publish our product recalls here on our website. The procedure is as follows:
There are several ways to become aware of a food safety risk:
-an official investigation reveals a food safety defect: in this case, the instructions of the authority will guide you on what to do in the recall;
-if the notified item is in stock, the following plan of action applies, but if the item is already out of our control, we must notify our customers based on our traceability system (item ID, min. time) and then, upon receipt, apply the following plan of action;
-if we receive a notification from a customer or learn of a food safety defect during self-monitoring: all customers and suppliers must be notified based on our traceability system (lot ID, min. time) and the following action plan must be validated upon receipt.
1. all recalled goods will be placed in the warehouse marked "blocked" in a separate storage area. The plant manager or his representative on site is responsible for the placement of the labels. The storage and further handling of recalled goods is regulated in Chapter 4: Good commercial/manufacturing hygiene practices. In this context, our contractual partner must be notified for removal for destruction.
Whether all items have been returned is checked and documented by the manager and the warehouse manager. If not all items have been returned, the warehouse manager will report the discrepancy to the manager.
2. Inspection, evaluation
After the items are returned, the manager will begin an investigation into the reasons for the return. He shall record the results of the investigation in a report which shall form part of the documents for the next inspection.
3. Persons to be notified in the event of an emergency (product recall):
Responsible for product recall on behalf of the Company:

On the problem of spice adulteration
Unfortunately, food adulteration also occurs in spices. Which spices are most affected? How can you protect yourself?
I think we could all give an example of how cheap is often expensive... How does this manifest itself in spices? Spices that are considered cheap may have lost their flavour, or may have been "diluted" in the grinding process with other plant parts from the plant of the spice itself.
This is sold either as a ground spice or as a blend. For this reason, for many years now, we have been buying only whole spices wherever we can and grinding them in-house with our milling partners, using our own raw materials.
In what form is adulteration common?
addition of non-spice plant parts (foreign green plant leaves in oregano, other flower petals in saffron, coffee husks in nutmeg)
-addition of colours without labelling or approval (e.g. turmeric, Sudan-Red, artificial colours)
-extraction of one of the main constituents of the spice (sale as a spent spice of the spice residue extracted for its oil)
For which products?
According to a study published on the American Spice Association website, the following products are affected internationally:
Paprika powder
Oregano
Saffron
Ground black pepper
Ground white pepper
Ground cinnamon
Ground nutmeg
And how can you protect yourself against it? Avoid cheap spices...

Why is the company name Alpaca?
The question has been asked many times, what is an alpaca and why our company is called Alpaca?
What do we know about alpacas? It belongs to the family of llamas - camelids, it lives in the mountains of South America, but there are also several in the Szeged Zoo, and the youngest alpaca foal was born recently.
Alpacas are not only exotic but also exclusive because their fur is warmer and lighter than sheep's wool, it is not prickly and is used to weave very pleasant and colourful and expensive scarves and products. If you look at it that way, alpacas are capable of adventurous transformations with their fur...
Our special spices are also not consumed by consumers and industry on their own, but bought for their added value:
-taste,
-flavour,
-experience,
-flavour, taste, experience and colour.
-additional nutritional value
add to your own food and products, increase processing, product variety, add variety of flavours.
So it's a fancy name, but we think it's ideal.
